I'll be staying out in the cave where Leto used to live for awhile longer, I think. Whatever the Malnosso did to me, it's set control of my Alter back to less than what I had even as a child. If I stay very calm and don't exert myself, I can manage not to... destroy things around me, but it is difficult to even maintain that level.

It seems to be easier to keep control with Kazuma around; though I am usually far from calm around him, perhaps it is the effect of another Alter-user being in the vicinity. Kazuma, I suppose I am in your debt.

I have to request that anyone else stay away from here, though. I cannot be sure of my power at the moment, and I do not wish to accidentally harm anyone. Duo, this means you. Are you well?

It is... difficult, being here. He did not leave much behind, but I am still reminded of our time together. I wish that I had gone somewhere else. Staying... calm is not the easiest task.

[Ryuhou is unaware of throwing Kazuma back, lost in a haze of pain and Alter light. If he were home, the gate to the Other Side might have opened now, but as it was here, all of the energy rips through his body, draining him and taking him to the brink of tearing his own body apart.]

[Finally, the Alter light explodes outward with the force and sound of a sonic boom, leaving Ryuhou crumpled on the ground. His armor vanishes, and his clothes are torn and bloodied beneath. He lies shivering in what's left of the snow, faint ripples of rainbow-hues shuddering over him.]

[Just as Kazuma peels himself off the rock he landed on, he gets knocked flat again by Ryuhou's shockwave. So...he just decides to lay there awhile until it passes. Once the dust settles, he cracks his eye open and looks over at Ryuhou to see if there's anything left. Spying a vaguely Ryuhou-shaped pile of rags, he pushes up onto his hands and knees before crawling over to him.]

Well...that was a shitty idea... Oi. You still alive over here?

Nnngh... [Kazuma won't get much more than a groan in response. Ryuhou is drained of energy, though those little flashes of Alter light keep flickering over him, as though if he had something, anything left, his power would be trying to manifest.]

[Well, that's enough to let him know that Ryuhou's still alive, at any rate. Rolling his eye, he grabs him up by the collar and drag/carries him back into the cave where he oh-so-gently dumps him onto his bedroll.]

[As soon as Kazuma touches him, the light around Ryuhou fades, and he seems to be in less pain for the moment. The lines on his face ease, and he sighs softly even as he's handled with roughness.]

[He comes back to consciousness a short while later, pushing himself upright on the blankets with a groan.] That... didn't work like I thought. [His voice is hoarse and raspy.]

[Snorts a laugh] Ya think? I figured you meant to blow your ass up like that.

[He rummages around in the supplies until he finds the bottled water he brought and sets it down next to Ryuhou]

[He picks up the water and takes a sip of it gratefully, remaining quiet. After a moment, he holds up his hand and looks at it, watching a flicker of Alter light shimmer over the skin.]

I wonder why they're doing this.

Many of their other experiments seem to have had at least some sort of objective. All this has done is drive me away from anyone but you. I doubt they're that interested in my personal life.

A purpose? Are you kidding? You're telling me the job thing last month had a purpose? Or all the love bullshit from a couple weeks ago? [He shrugs] Dunno about anything before I landed here, but the shit I've seen since I've been here? I don't see how they could get anything useful from that. And now I'm the only person you can be around without decreasing property values...

Heh. Which brings me back to my original theory. They're trying to piss you--hell, both of us--off.
